CJ: over the past few weeks i've come to conclude that health care reform is just not possible in the States. Our people are too sick. Our people are too fat.
Me: hmmm... you're probably right. And I bet even if we could find a close to ideal system, the initial influx of trying to fix all these health care problems from so many years of poor preventative medicine and lack of health care might overwhelm the system.

Me: I have a new proposal. Let's start a new health care plan but only kids can join. Like, say kids that are five and under are the first generation of people who can join. And they get it for their whole lives and everyone else who is born can join as well. Kind of like a new slate.
CJ: hmmm... that would only work if we changed our culture too. We don't just have a high chronic disease burden because people didn't have health care. We should ban junk food ads aimed towards kids. For some reason we've made the leap that it's wrong to advertise cigarettes to kids, but not for food.
Me: ok. no more tv and health care only starting with the little folks.
